Coping with Crisis
Coping with Crisis is the newsletter of the International Federation Reference Centre for Psychosocial Support. It primarily aims at informing National Societies and other stakeholders about psychosocial support programmes and related activities, including specific projects, assessments and evaluations. New developments and research is highlighted through the newsletter, as well as key meetings, trainings and events. Coping with Crisis is distributed electronically 4 times a year in the 4 Federation languages: Arabic, English, French and Spanish. If you have an idea for something you think we should cover, or if you would like to contribute, please contact us!

Coping with Crisis #4/2009
Strategy 2020, recently adopted at the General Assembly of the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies, lays out the collective commitment of the IFRC's 186 members of the IFRC in the next decade. The fact that psychosocial support is high on the  Strategy's agenda, bears witness to the increasing recognition of the humanitarian benefits of psychosocial support.

In this issue of Coping with Crisis, we bring you an article on how Strategy 2020 will provide a solid basis for psychosocial work in the future. We also pose the question how up-to-date the IFRC is in its psychosocial approaches, with regards to the newest research findings. Moreover, you can read stories from India, Spain and the US, on how psychosocial support was carried out in different emergency settings. We hope you enjoy the read...
