Psychosocial support is today widely recognized as a crucial and an integrated factor in emergency responses and disaster preparedness. It can help prevent an emergency from turning into a disaster and it can speed up recovery and resilience of communities and individuals in post disaster/conflict settings.

Psychosocial support is a cross-cutting issue and at the heart of all work of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. In a world that is witnessing an ever increasing number of conflicts affecting civilians, as well as natural catastrophes that are both larger and cause more damage than ever before, the need for psychosocial support becomes has never been clearer.

The Reference Centre for Psychosocial Support is a part of The International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies. It is an International Reference Centre, that serves 186 national societies globally, by doing trainings, and generating and sharing information on psychosocial support.
